2008 Austin Pride Parade is just two months away!
The theme for the 2008 AGLCC Pride Parade is "Building CommUNITY." Start planning your parade floats today! It's just a few short weeks until the big day, June 14th where for the first time in Austin's history, both the parade and Equality Texas' Pride Festival will be held on the same day. It will be Austin's biggest day of Pride ever! The parade entry packets are now available for download on the Parade website. And don't forget to take advantage of a 10% discount if you have both a parade entry and a booth at the Equality Texas Pride festival.

Parade Grand Marshals Announced
The AGLCC Pride Parade is excited to announce the Grand Marshals for 2008: Bettie Naylor, Gary Cooper, and aGLIFF! Congratulations to these three for truly embodying our theme of Building CommUNITY.
Parade Fundraisers a Success!
Because our parade has grown over the past seven years, costs for closing the streets, renting barricades, and hiring security have more than doubled. Only through the support of AGLCC members who sponsor and participate in the parade, and the community can we continue to celebrate this wonderful event every year.
Practically overnight, Tourism and Convention board member Edgar Gierbolini and the tourism committee held two fundraisers over the past month to help cover skyrocketing costs for producing the AGLCC Pride Parade. The first of these was First Annual Gayathalon, featuring the high-heeled race, Easter bonnet competition, and egg race. The event was a resounding success, raising over $700 in less than an hour. Thanks to Club CP, Rainbow Cattle Company, Rain for being stops along the race route and OCH for hosting the finish line.
Then this past Saturday, the Tourism committee was at it again, partnering with OCH on Casino Night last Saturday. Fun was had by all, not to mention an additional $300 for the parade fund!
