CITY OF AUSTIN

| Copyright and Intellectual Property Law |
Do you know how to stake your claim on your intellectual property (IP)? Do you really understand what intellectual property encompasses? The City of Austin's Small Business Development Program (SBDP) is proud to present a class taught by a practicing intellectual property attorney in Austin, Texas. Stephen Summer will provide you with an overview of the types of intellectual property, and the requirements to stake your claim on your intellectual property. The class will cover two main components: copyright and trademark (with a brief overview of patents). Upon completion of this class, participants will: understand the difference between trademark, copyright, and patent; have a working knowledge of the steps to complete IP registration; and understand the protections derived from such registration.
